Arthur Lourié
Arthur Lourié (1892 - 1966) is considered to be one of the most creative, still to be discovered, composers of the 20th Century. Born in St. Petersburg he was part of the Russian Avant-garde before fleeing the troubles of the revolution and to emigrate to Paris where he became Stravinsky's assistant.
He is considered a pioneer of the modern trend and a progressive artist of the Twelve-tone music as well as minimal music. Arthur Lourié was affectionate to the French language and lived and worked for a long time in Paris. His exile path brought him in 1941 further to New York and lastly to the small University town of Princeton where he died in 1966.
