For a flourishing Swiss economy

As our name indicates – the letters in CIC (Switzerland) stand for Crédit Industriel et Commercial – a profound entrepreneurial spirit makes up an integral part of our DNA. Our bank was established over 150 years ago by entrepreneurs from Basel and Alsace to finance Swiss businesses. Still today, we are keen to play our part in actively supporting the sustainable development of the Swiss economy, its players and financial markets.

“The bank has to play its part as a growth lever for the economy”

Through the access it can offer to financing, the mission of CIC (Switzerland) is to support companies in their development projects and in that way contribute not only to their own growth but also that of the Swiss economy and, by extension, the people of Switzerland. The more the wealth created by a company is in circulation, the more it helps develop collective wealth.

For an open and inclusive society

Our bank is a large family and we cultivate a wealth of diversity in language, culture and profile. In line with our core values – collective, effective, supportive – we want to go further and make a positive contribution to changing mindsets in our society. Because we believe in meritocracy and place a high value on diversity.

For a sustainable world

We are aware of our responsibility to society and the environment, as an employer, a business and a player in society. We set great store by treating people and resources with attention and respect and taking a responsible attitude to managing the assets and taking the financing decisions entrusted to us.

Our ESG approach

We integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into our investment process, offering investment solutions that use an ESG best-in-class approach while aiming for favourable returns. Our ESG-focused advisory mandates include companies with a minimum ESG rating, enhancing innovation and resilience. This philosophy ensures that your investments are managed with expertise, personalised attention, and a commitment to achieving sustainable, long-term growth.

For transmission of culture

As bank with a proud tradition that continues to evolve within the structure of a cooperative we are mindful of our social responsibility. Because culture is a precious heritage and a universal language, we support institutions that represent excellence and we are committed to bringing on talent in music, art and literature in Switzerland.

Collegium Musicum Basel

Since 2021 we have been proud supporters of CMB, the oldest independent professional orchestra in Basel. This is the 75th year they have been enriching the musical scene in the city, performing six concerts in the Basel Stadtcasino each season. The orchestra also helps encourage talented young musicians by putting on dedicated concerts – some even in our bank branches.

Backstage with artists’ tools

Because we are keen to be authentic and showcase Swiss expertise, we asked our partners and network to assemble various artists' tools, which were photographed by Basel photographer Marc Gilgen, as a way of symbolising the solutions we offer.
We would like to thank Collegium Musicum Basel, Balthasar Streiff and Marcelo López for the loan of various tools to do with musical instruments, and Mauricio Pavón, an artist who lives in Basel, and Daniel Achermann of Lehmhuus Basel for their contribution to the new visual universe reflecting our identity.

Sowing for tomorrow

Just as the beechnuts falling from the tree and scattering on the ground help renew and sustain the forest ecosystem, our commitments to the economy, society, sustainability and culture aim to maintain our heritage and help it develop. By planting healthy seeds today we contribute to shaping a future that will be sound, sustainable and prosperous.
