Six cities. 250 guests. Clear perspectives.
The Swiss economy is facing a year of key developments. These formed the subject of discussions between our CIO Luca Carrozzo, Deputy CIO Carl Münzer and other experts from CIC (Switzerland) with clients over the past few weeks. Our CIO Perspectives series in Geneva, Lausanne, Salavaux, Neuchâtel, Lugano and Basel demonstrated how strong the need for solid classification is at times when markets, politics and technology are all changing at once.
Entrepreneurs and demanding investors are keen to understand how they can combine stability with growth in an increasingly complex environment. The discussions that took place at the events were focused, substantive and marked by genuine interest in perspectives extending beyond the headlines.
Our CIO Perspectives series aims to meet this need by presenting macroeconomic analyses, recommendations and investment solutions for 2026.

What Swiss investors are concerned about right now
Geopolitical realities
The world order is shifting towards multipolarity. The competition between the US and China remains structural, commodity dependencies are growing in importance, trade routes are becoming more regional and trade conflicts increasingly intense. For Switzerland, as a nation of exporters, classification is key: which markets will remain stable? Which sectors will come under structural pressure? And how will that impact investments?
Macroeconomics and currencies
Switzerland is following its own path on monetary policy. The SNB is being cautious, the franc is still strong and international rate cycles are out of sync. For investors, this means:
- Managing currencies is more challenging
- Bonds are unattractive in an environment of low yields
- Equities are hitting new valuation levels
Dynamic technology
Digitalisation, artificial intelligence, electrification and automation are shaping the western world's powers of innovation and preoccupying investors. These formed one of the central themes of the CIO Perspectives presentations - not as hyped up stories, but structural growth drivers.
The strength of the Swiss franc
The Swiss currency was also a topic at the CIO Perspectives presentations. Our assumption is that it will remain strong due to its safe haven status. The key factors are political stability and low government debt.

First-hand insights: CIO and Deputy CIO
Our events were hosted by our CIO Luca Carrozzo and our Deputy CIO Carl Münzer. The two gave a distinctive view of the markets, answered the main questions raised by guests present and set out the prospects for the months ahead.
«We are optimistic that 2026 will prove a good year for the markets. The macroeconomic and geopolitical risks are still rising, but there are also opportunities to be seized.»
Luca Carrozzo, CIO, CIC (Switzerland)
«Our task is to provide orientation, particularly in times of uncertainty. Our CIO Perspectives series provides clients with clarity on the trends that really matter, and the best way to profit from them.»
Carl Münzer, Deputy CIO, CIC (Switzerland)

The role played by our own pension fund: stability as a strategic factor
A key part of the series of events was the presentation of the positioning of our own pension fund.
This gives an example of how institutional investors with a long-term horizon are reacting to the current environment:
- Rigorous diversification across asset classes and regions
- A focus on stability in a challenging environment for interest rates and currencies
- Targeted allocations in alternative investments, infrastructure and real estate
- Clear risk budgets in response to geopolitical and macroeconomic shifts
For our guests this was a tangible insight into how a Swiss institutional investor with real responsibility structures investment decisions: in a way that is pragmatic, disciplined and long-term.
A dialogue that generates substance
The more than 250 participants enriched the events with inspiring questions, sound experience and palpable energy. It is these dialogues - direct, personal and highly professional - that make our CIO Perspectives series special.

We will continue to swap views
We are already planning the next CIO Perspectives.
We look forward to continuing the dialogue - with clear assessments and an understanding of what really matters to ambitious investors.
