Roots in Switzerland; a bank with history

The predecessor of Bank CIC, the Banque d’Alsace et de Lorraine (BAL), was founded in 1871 by Basel entrepreneurs for the financial concerns of other entrepreneurs. In 1909, Bank BAL opened its first counters in Basel.

 

Bank CIC has nine offices in Switzerland. Our Swiss management and our local employees ensure a solid integration into the Swiss banking landscape.

Entrepreneurs from Basel found the Banque d’Alsace et de Lorraine (BAL).

1909

BAL opens its first counter in Basel.

1931

BAL is acquired and becomes a branch of CIAL, Strasbourg.

1984

The branch of CIAL, Strasbourg is converted and the Swiss bank CIAL (Switzerland) Ltd. is founded.

2010

The bank has around 250 employees and reorganises to focus on providing full support to Swiss companies and entrepreneurs.

2019

Total assets exceed CHF 10 billion and the number of employees 400 for the first time.

Bank CIC positions itself as an omnichannel bank with CIC eLounge, one of the most modern e-banking offerings.

2021 Anniversary: Bank CIC celebrates its 150th birthday. Livia Moretti is appointed CEO of Bank CIC with effect from 1 February.
2023

On 28 November Bank CIC presents its new strategy and development goals for the coming four years.
